Mercure Bangkok Makkasan Hotel is a 4-star hotel in the centre of Bangkok. It is located next to Makkasan Airport Link station, which is an important transit hub to Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The 25-story hotel has 184 guestrooms, as well as an all-day-dining restaurant, wine bar, swimming pool, gym, and conference facilities.

The core strength of the hotel is its ready access to many significant visitor amenities, local trains, BTS (skytrain), highway, and Bangkok’s CBD. Given its location at this infrastructural hub, it was important to give the tower a strong external identity.

We set out to create a unique façade pattern by twisting guestroom windows at different angles. This gives the hotel a distinctive rhythmic visual identity, while also lending the hotel a different character when seen from different angles.

The twisted windows were initially conceived to provide each room with a different perspective of Bangkok. The purple color of the exterior façade expresses the international Mercure brand.
